This rainbow filled collection was inspired by the well known Maya Angelou quote, "Be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud.”
The quote that inspires this collection is from a discussion Ms. Angelou had with Oprah Winfrey in 2011. She explained that she first heard the metaphor In a 19th century African-American song, “God Put a Rainbow in the Clouds.” “The thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself so you can be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud. Somebody who may not look like you. May not call God the same name you call God — if they call God at all. I may not dance your dances or speak your language. But be a blessing to somebody. That’s what I think.”
This powerful sentiment is as pertinent today as it was when Ms. Angelou originally expressed it and has helped to give me something hopeful and helpful to focus in these past weeks.
This collection is meant to encourage you to "Be a Rainbow" as you go about your days. We each have something special to bring to the world each and every day. When you tap into your unique gifts and allow your contributions to bless the world around you, we all benefit. Whether a simple smile to a passing stranger or a grand gesture of love and support, all actions based in love and kindness touch even those you'll never meet.
“Be a Rainbow” will be live on Tuesday, June 16th at 11:11 AM Central time.
